[Uucf-bible] Modern translation of Bible

   Adin,
    
   I agree with Rev. Ron's recommendations. But remember that these
   bible/commentary combinations have information limitations based mainly on
   space. And some of them have info preceeding each book, while others also
   include notes within the texts. Its helpfull to have one or more good
   separate commentaries around just in case you want to delve into a book or
   passage more deeply.
    
   Also, when purchasing the Harper Collins or Oxford editions, be sure to
   get the latest editions. These have been updated within the past two years
   or so.
    
   Another excellent bible is the recently published Orthodox Study Bible.
   The New Testament translation is from the New King James Version, and the
   Old Testament is the St. Athanasius Academy Septuagint (SAAS). Give this
   one serious consideration.
    
   The Jewish Publication Society produces The Jewish Study Bible.
   Excellent. Obviously, and understandably, the only limitation is its lack
   of The New Testament.
