The question is, does non-Gospel music glorify God? My answer is, How could it NOT? Must a couple be married in a church because man calls it "the house of God"? Is it wrong to be married outside under the sky, which is the God's firmament? In the sunlight or under of a tree or by a lake or on a beach, all of which God has created? Since when is what man creates better than what God creates? This touches on the heart of the matter. Are we assuming that Gospel music is from God but secular music is not? On what basis? Is it because we assume the Bible is a book written by God but all other books are man-written? Consider the wedding. Will there be a wedding cake? Is it made by God or by man? Is it made of revealed, miraculous substances or of worldly, secular substances? Is whatever is of the world necessarily bad? What of the electronic sound equipment the DJ would use to play gospel music? Is it of man or of God? If electricity be able to glorify God, then I would say
secular music can glorify God, too. Or can nothing man creates glorify God? If so, then being married in a church would fail, because the buliding is made by human hands. The question is the substance of the secular music. A lot of modern gospel music I think is ungodly because it is rock style and irreverernt. On the other hand, Mendelssohn's wedding march, so often heard at weddings, was actually written for Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" which is secular and some might even say is Pagan. How far do we go with this? On the wedding announcements, is the day of the week mentioned? No matter what day is chosen, it's a name with Pagan roots. Does that mean the wedding announcements would make people feel uncomfortable? I would say just get a different DJ. Why have a DJ anyway? Hire a pianist or flutist or guitarist. It's more traditional and romantic anyway.
