Well the spoken language was around before the written language.  We 
must remember it is believe that the language was ordained by God.  Many 
of the words are centered around him.  When Moses wrote on the tablets 
he "wrote."  God Wrote on the other talbet.  The tablets were kept in 
the Arc of the Convedant and was influentional without history.
        But before that Abraham came to land of Canan and there were a  
few different forms of languages sopken.  It seems Phoenician and 
Aramaic was key languages spoken by Cannittes.  Phoenician was the first 
written language from that time.  Aramaic which was spoken up to the 
time of Christ was found a few hundreds years later.  Interestingly,  
Laban spoke a different language than Jacob.  Well how does this effect 
your question?  Well the great king knew the country was going to be in 
trobule when he found the written word of God.  He knew it needed to be 
a change away form idol worship.  While in Babylonian captivity the 
written Hebrew language which is used to today was used.  This was the 
time of the "modern" hebrew language written on scrolls.  All languages 
I guess has a root
