Ron, I was hooked when I read that theme for readings would be "choosing life", but I found I reacted negatively because I looked at the readings through the eyes of terminally ill patients I visit. From these readings I felt a good long life was the reward for a good and just life but what about someone who has a terminal illness? Must they feel they are guilty of not living up to some standard therefore they have been smitten with a dreadful disease?. I often find people who have turned from religion because they feel they have failed to measure up and that is why they got sick. How do some of the sages on this chatline deal with such concerns?
I am always on the look out for resources surrounding the theme of choosing life. I would welcome any ideas
Shalom, Gracia
