In celebration of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," Rev. Peter
Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association of
Congregations (UUA), has issued the following statement:
The repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) is a cause for
celebration for all who believe in civil rights. Now, gay men and women
will be allowed to serve their country with integrity and
dignity.
I want to thank the many dedicated Unitarian Universalists who
have been working to repeal this discriminatory policy for the past
seventeen years. The repeal of DADT is another step on the long
journey for full equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
Americans.
Let us take a moment to celebrate this victory. And let us
continue to stand on the side of love for those who serve.
