[UUA-L] Sinkford Set to Become Senior Minister/Advisor for UU Urban Ministry

The Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (UUUM) has announced that Rev.
William G. Sinkford will join the organization in a special one-year
role as Senior Minister and Advisor effective August 15, 2009. Sinkford
is currently completing eight years as President of the Unitarian
Universalist Association and will leave office on June 28, 2009.  Rev.
Sinkford is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University and holds a
Master of Divinity degree from Starr King School for the Ministry.
Elected president of the UUA in 2001 and re-elected in 2005, he is the
first African-American to serve in that position. 

 

The UUUM also announced that Catherine Senghas will assume the role of
Senior Minister/Executive Director effective June 1, 2009, replacing
Rev. John Hickey, who is retiring.  Ms. Senghas, who will be ordained to
the Unitarian Universalist ministry in May, is a graduate of Smith
College, holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, and will receive
her Master in Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in May.
Prior to entering seminary, Ms. Senghas worked first in finance and
accounting in the high tech field.  She enjoyed a second career in
administration and management of social science research, most recently
as the Deputy Director for Finance and Administration at the Wellesley
Centers for Women at Wellesley College.  

 

Edward Leibensperger, President of the UUUM Board of Directors, said
that with these appointments, the UUUM has "a unique opportunity to
utilize the talents of two extraordinary individuals to advance UUUM's
mission."
