World Conference on Religion and Peace
to receive Wilton Peace Prize  

The World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP), an 
international interfaith organization founded in 1970 to promote 
cooperation for peace among the world's religious leaders,  will 
receive the Unitarian Universalist Association's  Wilton Peace 
Prize at a special presentation at the Harvard Divinity School on 
December 10, 1999, at 4:30 p.m.  

The Prize comes in recognition of the work that the WCRP has done 
in recent regional conflicts in Bosnia, Sierra Leone, and Kosovo, to 
bring together religious leaders from various sides of the conflict to 
help broker a peaceful resolution.  

The presentation, on International Human Rights Day, will feature a 
report on the WCRP's Seventh World Assembly in Amman, Jordan, by 
Dr. William Vendley, Secretary General of WCRP, and Fr. Antonios 
Kireopoulos, Secretary General of WCRP-USA.  Moderating the 
presentation will be Dr. Diana Eck of the Harvard Divinity School 
and the Rev. John Buehrens, UUA President. Buehrens attended the

The presentation is free and open to the public and will take place in 
Sperry Room in Andover Hall on the Harvard Divinity School campus. 
Light refreshments will be served in the Braun Room at 4:30. The 
presentation will be at 5:15, followed by a reception in honor of Dr. 
Vendley and Fr. Kireopoulos. Questions about the event can be
