Church reflects the city's culture with its fabulous music program, led by
Rev. Jason Shelton, Associate Minister for Music.  * * *
*Jason invites all who love to sing to join in the Mid-South "Lively
Choir" for Friday night's "Service of the Lively Tradition"!**  The choir
will be made up of attendees at the Assembly -- you! -- as well as First UU
Nashville folks.  (Rehersal for the "Lively Choir" will be at 5:30pm.)

*  Brings Keynote Address and*
*  Afternoon Conversation*

 Rev. Tom Owen-Towle, revered Unitarian Universalist minister and author,
calls the keynote address he will deliver on Saturday morning "*THE PRIZE:
Growing the Beloved Community*."  He will also host *"A Conversation With
Rev. Tom Owen-Towle"* during the assembly's afternoon sessions.

Noting that in his retirement years he is "a guitar player, a budding
magician, and a Little League coach," the reverend Tom Owen-Towle has
previously authored over 20 books, several of which will be available for
purchase at the Assembly's bookstore.

 Tom Owen-Towle and his life-partner, Carolyn, were co-ministers of First UU
Church of San Diego for 24 years. They are the active parents of 4 children
and grandparents of 6.  The Rev. Owen-Towle was ordained in 1967 and has
served congregations in Germany, Iowa, Michigan and California, where he is
currently an interim minister in North San Diego County.

Rev. Owen-Towle will also bring the sermon at First UU Nashville's Sunday
morning worship the day after the assembly.  Assembly attendees are
cordially invited to stay over to attend.

"Growing Beloved Community" has been Mid-South's theme for the 2008-09
church year.

In the midst of it the* *Assembly Bookstore* *will offer more inspiration to
take home -- including the opportunity to have Rev. Tom Owen-Towle autograph
books he has authored! (You can buy new ones on site and/or bring your own
dog-eared ones for his signature!)***

*Most of us know the Seven Principles of our UU faith by heart.  But
periodically, we UUs review them.  Join UUA Trustee Lyn Conley in a session
to learn about the process and substance of the proposed changes to the UUA
bylaw Article II - The Purposes and Principles known as the UU 7
Principles.
The Northwest UU Congregation is installing solar panels and combining solar
energy and energy conservation to reach its ultimate goal of zero carbon
emission.  Leaders from the congregation's Earth Ministry Team will share
stories of this project at the Annual Assembly.  See a video of the initial

Cain-Green will engage the audience in experiencing storytelling as
spiritual practice and community connection.  Both Nashville-based women
bring rich experience to this afternoon session.
Saturday is a full day which begins with Rev. Tom Owen-Towle's keynote
address, continues with morning and afternoon sessions, includes lively
discussions at 'affinity tables' over lunch, gets the business of the
district done in the MSD Annual Meeting, and finishes with a closing worship
that includes a bridging ceremony for youth who are high school graduates.
