1 Voting in possible chaplain and worship and spirituality coordinator

            Earl Daniels-social action con of this year, protest at school
of Americas, Western Hemisphere something, south American military leader
training. Commeration of an event that happened six priests and house keeper
were killed by military men, peace protest, strong catholic influence. In
general: anti-war protest. At auburn church. Lots of ligistics from getting
to fort benning from auburn. Minister, reverned Diana Jordan Allende, did a
video at the protest that showed how much fun everyone is having. Didn¹t get
ugly. 

            Questions/goals:

Should there be touch groups in cars? Yes

Axis of peaceful protesting and effective protesting on Friday night? Yes

Worship on teenage suicide?

Shortening the School of Americas? No

            Uses chaplain more than any other con, youth handle it
differently

                        People cross the line, trespass on to the base,
there was a training. There were people connected to law enforcement that
tried to pick fights in the crowd, raising ruckus. Had booths that were
observation posts, searched when checked in, a little disconcerting. Never
had violence. A lot of Catholics, priests, nuns, older people, and there¹s a
lot of police presence. That was a couple of years ago, last year it had
gotten better. 

             

            Teen Suicide, important topic could fit on either evening. Is it
more relevant now than any other con since it is the social action con? Will
the school of Americas take away from the topic? DeathCON. Weekend is more
focused on the School of Americas.

 

No. 

            Making shirts Friday night to go to school of Americas. Also on
Friday there was a hassle line, but hassling wasn¹t a big problem. Kind of
creepy, but the kind of practice that civil rights protesters would use. Not
sure if we need it. Bad idea? Gears people up to be angy, everyones tired,
get the message out, it could happen. If  in touch groups and one is singled
out the touch group can help.

            Food_ CiCi¹s or food at the auburn fellowship? Auburn church
will provide hot meals, if we don¹t want to go to Cici¹s. Undecided, though
it leant toward Cici¹s.

            More that just using facilities, connecting the congregation,
Conrad Ross doing a history about the bulding. Might be neat, might be
stupid. Will he go on too long? Let him talk during dinner

            Touch groups, how man the advisors have and seats in their car.

Basic Advisor Training on 27 of January

Board Meeting in Marietta may not be going to the raining.

Who goes to advisory training?

Anyone who¹s gone or would be good with youth. Very helpful experience.

 

Caravans- assign a few people to a church or congregation and email them and
encourage them to come to CONs. Email the DRE personally. Get youth and
advisors and add them to the youth announce list. Be able to talk to
congregations about how this builds stong local groups rather than the super
cool and really fun aspect because it interests them in thigs outside of
their own youth group. It enhances not only their program it will enhance
the district prohram and ultimately the movement. Making a packet, and
personal packet, and putting how it will enhance their community. What can
we do for you? Not only a phone call, but an email. Get a list of the
youth¹s emails and phone numbers. And testimonials. One thing that will
improve group, advisor training. It has not been long since the YAC melted
down. DREs still remember the meltsown and they might have a bad outlook on
YAC. Getting across is the filer. RE committee has asked for a YAC article.
Peer groups are hearing from their own peers.  A newsletter blog. Assign
every congregation another congregation to focus on/ each youth assigned a
congregation. Cool goal to actually go to a congregation, but it¹s hard. The
whole YAC working on one or two congregations. Maybe plan a trip.
