!!HEY Youth and Young adults!!
anti-racism design team needs your input!

We, the Youth and Young Adults Anti-Racism Planning and Design Team, are
working towards developing a transformation team. This team is a step in
institutionalizing the anti-racism work that both YRUU and C*UUYAN are
dedicated to. Historically the anti-racism movement has been concentrated
on the continental level of YRUU and C*UUYAN and we want this work to become
a part of both the district and local level. To do this we need the
involvement of folks on the district and local level. As a first step in the
transformation team process we are creating a resource in which we want
everyone from YRUU, C*UUYAN and other parts of the UUA to report their
experiences of racism and anti-racism. The following questions are a place
to start, please answer these questions and tell us about any of your
experience. This is an ongoing process so feel free to return your responses
to:
DesignTeam c/o Youth Office
25 Beacon St., Boston, MA02108
or designteam at uuyan.org

Tha Questions:
§ Discuss instances where you have seen/experienced/participated in racism
within your relationships in a Unitarian context (ANY INTERACTION WITH
ANOTHER UU OR IN A UU SETTING)

§ Have you ever witnessed or been part of conversations about racism in a
UU
context? If so, where? Tell us about the situation.

§ Talk about what has been helpful/difficult/inspiring about UU
anti-racism
programming that you have been a part of. Be sure to include as much
information about your experience and where it occurred as possible.

§ How have your experiences with anti-racism work affected relationships
in
your respective communities?

§ In your experience how is racism manifested differently than other types
of oppression? How do they operate in conjunction with racism?

§ What fears/doubts/questions/hopes/ambitions do you have about the
direction of anti-racism work within a UU context?

§ Is there anything else that you would like to share about your
experiences
with racism and anti-racism work within a UU context?

Buudha Quant-hey hey I’m Buudha Quant. I’m a youth member on the
anti-racism design team. I’m always available to anyone who has any
questions about the ar/ao work that YRUU and C*UUYAN have been doing. I’m
18, a scorpio and I live in Culver City, California where I go to the UU
Community Church of Santa Monica. I’ve been a UU for about 3 ½ years now
mostly due to being active in YRUU in my home district, the PiSWaD. As a
person of color, AR work today is very important to building this community,
denomination and the greater world. AR work is not only something that
encompasses our work toward social justice, but it is also important work
spiritually to further grow and develop as UU’s but also as spiritual
beings.
