JOURNEY TOWARD WHOLENESS (JTW) NEWS
************************************

Dear JTW-News Readers:

Thank you for all that you do year round to bring our Unitarian
Universalist values to life in our collective efforts for
anti-oppressive justice-making.

This Holiday issue of JTW-News brings you a pastoral holiday message
from President William Sinkford that you can *view* as well as read on
Restoring Hope; Waging Peace at http://www.uua.org/.

As part of the holiday season we ask that you engage in advocacy for the
poorest in our society, who are impacted disportionately by race, by
signing on to the LET JUSTICE ROLL effort to support raising the minimum
wage. The Kennedy/Miller bill will be before the new Congress in early
January. Let Justice Roll will present the letter on January 8th and
needs signatures by JAN. 2nd. Please sign on at
http://www.letjusticeroll.org/pressroom/letter-religiousleaders.html and
ask your minister to sign on too.

Lastly, we want to lift up the ministry of Rev. Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley
who we lost earlier this month. Marjorie dedicated her life to
Unitarian Universalism being a force for anti-oppressive, anti-racist
social justice. You can read about Marjorie's life and ministry at
http://www.uua.org/programs/ministry/news/061210_bowens-wheatley.html.
She was a shining star among us and her spirit lives on in us.

Blessings of the season to all of you. I look forward to further
collaborations for justice in the coming year. Receiving your
congregational reports is a highlight of my work and I love being able
to share them with UUA media staff and with all of you. It helps build
our collective movement, sharing our successes, our struggles, and
linking our hearts. We would like to hear about your plans for 2007 and
we will work to bring you more timely information of upcoming campaigns
and initiatives that your congregation may want to join in the coming
year as well. Please write directly to me at sleslie at uua.org and cc:
afriend at uua.org. We would particularly like to hear about anti-racism
and racial justice efforts in connection with MLK Day on Jan. 15th.

Love & Peace, Susan
