[huud-l] URGENT: Heartland District Annual Meeting

Dear Heartlanders,
 
We need your help.
 
Our District Annual Meeting is an important event in which congregations
participate in the democratic process of governing the District and
congregational leaders and members grow their knowledge through
significant keynote addresses and lots of workshops.  In recent years,
the Annual Meeting has been held in full-service hotels to get the
meeting spaces and the food service necessary for the event.  This
requires that we guarantee the hotel some minimum numbers of sleeping
room nights to be used by attendees.  If we fail to meet the minimum
requirements, we stand to lose thousands of dollars in expenses that are
not offset by anticipated revenue.
 
Our registration numbers are still quite low.  I urge your help in
getting your delegates and other attendees registered for the Annual
Meeting (online with credit card at www.heartlanduu.org
<http://www.heartlanduu.org/> ), identified to us in the District Office
by faxing your completed delegate form to us (317-634-5384), and
registered with the hotel for sleeping accommodations (Westin
Southfield-Detroit Hotel, 1-248-827-4000, mention Heartland District
group rate of $89 per night single or double occupancy).  The Westin has
graciously extended our special conference rate past their initial
deadline, but attendees should act NOW!
 
NOTE: YOUTH registrations are to be sent separately to Nancy Otto, DRE
at Birmingham Unitarian Church, using special registration forms
distributed through DREs in all congregations, and these must be sent
NOW in order that we know how many youth are attending - and how many
are staying over Saturday night for the Sleepover at First UU Church of
Detroit -to complete food and lodging arrangements and to ensure
adequate adult supervision.
 
We appreciate your assistance in moving the registration process to a
speedy conclusion.  We look forward to seeing many of your members at
this great Annual Meeting.
