I had not as yet updated the congregational membership numbers to reflect the membership you reported to the UUA in February. Revised dues invoices have been mailed this date. Please pay from the dues invoice dated July 7, 2004, and please accept my apology for any inconvenience. Thank you. We are hoping to reach more young adults throughout our congregations. I am hoping that as the administrative support to our district offices, you would be willing to forward the blurb below to your district congregations to help us get the word out about programming designed to meet the needs of our young adults. It would be especially helpful if the blurb could be placed in the notes accompanying the Sunday Order of Service or announced at your information-sharing time. We are hoping it can run for the remaining sundays in July. We are striving to meet the spiritual needs of our young adults and sincerely appreciate your help in coordinating this outreach attempt. The blurb is located below. If there is any more effective way to send this information to congregations, please let me know. I can be reached via email at eriffle2000 at yahoo.com or by phone at 330-573-9336. Thank you so much! In faith, Erin Riffle, Registrar/Outreach Coordinator for Opus and ConCentric Attention all young adults ages 18-35. The Restructuring Task Force recommendations were passed unanimously. They included: * Election of a 5-member Board of Trustees * Appointment of a 4-member Grants Panel * Passage of a bylaws revision that conformed to the new structure "Our members have resoundingly endorsed this radical transformation," said newly elected President Nancy Van Dyke in her address to the General Assembly. "From an organization people support in return for direct services, to a UUWF foundation which members join to support grant-making and advocacy work. This is our blueprint for the future," she added. Trustees elected at the special membership meeting were President Nancy Van Dyke, Sea Cliff, New York; Vice President/Clerk Danielle De Bona, Onset, MA; Treasurer Barbara Prairie, Berea, KY; Development/ Communications Director Arlene Johnson, Tulsa, OK; and Grants Panel Chair Linda Lu Burciaga., Phoenix, AZ. Grants Panel members appointed were Rev. Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley, Tampa, FL; Rev. Elizabeth McMaster, Philadelphia, PA; Janet Prince, New Castle, NH; and Justice Waidner, Tulsa, OK. The UU Women's Federation expects the first grant-giving cycle to start in the fall of 2005. Grant applications will be considered provided a UUWF member is involved in the project and the focus is in alignment with the mission and goals of UUWF. Appointed by the UUWF board in the fall of 2002, the Restructuring Task Force included Co-Chairs, Phyllis Rickter and Patsy Madden, Denny Davidoff, Arlene Johnson and Justice Waidner. For more information about UUWF membership or grants, contact Ellen Spencer, UUWF Executive Administrator, (617) 948-4692 or espencer at uua.org. ###
