Subject: Congregations and IRS Guidelines
All,
As the elections get closer, and more of our congregations get active in
voter registration efforts (and politics generally), we're getting many
questions about the relevant IRS guidelines.
In case you are, or are simply interested in the nuances of federal
nonprofit law (as so many are), the Washington Office website has a
resource
entitled "The Real Rules: Congregations and IRS Guidelines on Advocacy,
Lobbying, and Elections" available in both HTML and PDF formats at:
http://www.uua.org/uuawo/new/article.php?id=314
If folks have more specific questions, feel free to direct them to me.
In Faith,
Rob
