Exempt Position Description - Grade 9
Position Title: Young Adult and Campus Ministry Program Associate
Staff Group: Congregational, District, and Extension Services
Reports To: Director of Young Adult and Campus Ministry

Basic Purpose: The Young Adult and Campus Ministry Program
Associate works closely with the other staff in the Office of Young Adult
and Campus Ministry and other UUA staff, as well as the Continental UU Young
Adult Network (C*UUYAN) Steering Committee, and local and district young
adult leaders to conduct outreach to young adults, advocate for young adults
and campus ministry in our association, and develop programs and resources
for young adults. The position is a professional program position with a
two-year appointment.
Principal Responsibilities:
CONTINENTAL UU YOUNG ADULT NETWORK (C*UUYAN)
1. Steering Committee and Administrative Tasks
* Administer C*UUYAN budget and handle check requests for C*UUYAN
account as directed by Steering Committee
* Handle check requests and bookkeeping for C*UUYAN-related UUA
accounts
* Supply logistical and administrative support to Committees
2. Conference Planning and Support
* Supply organizational, logistical and administrative support to the
Conferences Planning Committee in planning General Assembly Young Adult
Caucus, ConCentric and Opus
* Act as resource to the staff and committee members at conferences
3. Implement anti-racism/anti-oppression, social justice and other
initiatives
* Initiate and follow up on conversations surrounding issues of
anti-racism and anti-oppression work.
* Act as support staff for C*UUYAN working groups, tasks forces and
committees as appointed by the Director of Young Adult and Campus Ministry
LOCAL ORGANIZING & OUTREACH
1. Organize at a local and district level:
* Receive and process requests for information about young adult and
campus ministry
* Proactive work with campuses and congregations coordinated with
other YACM staff
* Consult with congregations
2. Internet Communications:
* Monitor all Young Adult and Campus Ministry list-servers
* Update Young Adult And Campus Ministry office web page on UUA web
site
DEVELOP AND REVISE RESOURCES
1. Identify people who are creating quality Young Adult and Campus
Ministry resources and forward them to the Director of Young Adult and
Campus Ministry
2. Revise existing Young Adult and Campus Ministry resources and
develop new resources (curricula, training outlines, and others) as time
allows and need dictates
ADVOCATE WITHIN UUA
1. Attend meetings for related groups within the UUA. (i.e. Youth
Office, Faith in Action, Religious Education)
2. Advocate within the UUA for Young Adult and Campus Ministry
3. Strengthen the relationship between YRUU and C*UUYAN by working with
the Youth Program Specialists in the Youth Office
ANTI-OPPRESSION WORK
1. Participate in anti-oppression work using Diversity Diamond as a
model for areas of work.
This is a Grade 9 (Exempt) position (entry $31,900) with a two-year term
starting in the summer of 2004. Must be self-motivated, creative, able to
work independently as well as in a variety of team settings,
detail-oriented, and able to live in the Boston area. Strong qualifications
include conference planning experience, financial/accounting knowledge, a
commitment to anti-oppression/anti-racism work, advanced computer skills
(including website management and email), community organizing or
youth/young/adult leadership experience, a commitment to Unitarian
Universalist young adult and campus ministry, and dedication to the growth
of Unitarian Universalism. People with disabilities and candidates who
