Hello, ministers (settled, retired, interim and intern) and CUC board and
staff

This is the first messge on the new "announce only" email list, whereby I'll
plan to send approximately one message per month on updates that I feel
would interest you -- either from board or staff.

You are free to forward these messages to whomever you wish.

It is now 30 days prior to the CUC Annual Meeting and under our bylaws at
this point no further nominations are accepted.

Therefore, I'm pleased to let you know that Rev. Katie Stein Sather of
Beacon Church in Coquitlam, BC, will be the incoming board member taking on
the one-year portion of the term unfulfilled due to Karen Fraser Gitlitz's
resignation from the board. Katie will be eligible for a full 3-year term
starting in May 2007.

Here's Katie's "bio":

Rev. Katie Stein Sather, Beacon Unitarian Church, Coquitlam

Rev. Katie Stein Sather is minister of Beacon Unitarian Church in Coquitlam,
BC, and has served congregations in St. John's, NL and Southfield, MI. Katie
has previously been a member of the UUA board, the UU Women's Federation
board and the General Assembly Planning Committee. Prior to ministry, she
guided wilderness canoeing trips.

"The most important part of what we do is to foster a sense of community.
True, we don't want our community to dictate too much to us, but we can
learn so much, and be so challenged, and nurtured and supported, too. We
need both a local community, and the broader one that is the CUC."

Nominated as a BC Board member for 1 year to complete the term of Karen
Fraser Gitlitz who resigned from the board for personal reasons.

John Michell of UCCalgary and Jan Greenwood of the Kamloops Fellowship will
be the other new board members. Jean Armstrong currently of Portage La
Prairie and previously of Thunder Bay will be acclaimed for a second 3-year
term. (Further bio's can be found at:
http://www.cuc.ca/business/council/nomCtee2006.htm

In May, 2007, there will be two vacancies and the Nominating Committee will
be eager to receive recommendations from you for potential nominees. Nora
Prosser, of Hamilton, has announced that she does not intend to stand for a
second 3-year term. Vyda Ng-Cornish, currently Vice-President of the Board,
of Avalon (St. John's) will be completing her second term. If you have
suggestions or want to know more about serving on the board, the Nominating
Committee chair can be contacted at nominating at cuc.ca

Rev. Brian Kiely ends his second 3-year term but continues as Immediate Past
President for the coming year.

RESOLUTIONS COMING TO THE CUC ANNUAL MEETING
After a two-year study period, updated resolutions related to Gender &
Sexual Diversity are coming to the ACM for a vote.
They're online at: http://www.cuc.ca/queer/index.htm (just scroll down the
page a bit).

The Social Responsibility Task Force Report and resolutions can be found at:
http://www.cuc.ca/social_responsibility/index.htm

The budget was sent out in our last congregational mailing. And can be found
at: http://www.cuc.ca/programs/mailings/apr06/

We will also be sending out a resolution relating to socially responsible
investing which has been brought to the board by members. It will be sent
next Wednesday in time for the 21 days notice. (We are awaiting the final
version before sending out.)

DELTA BRUNSWICK ROOMS
The date for reserving rooms at the CUC rate has passed. However, we have
taken a risk by guaranteeing a couple of extra rooms. If you have not booked
a room as yet and wish to take advantage of one of these, please contact
Janice Lincoln at the CUC office 1-888-568-5723 on Monday, Wednesday or
Friday or send her an email to janice at cuc.ca

All for now. Questions or responses? Send to mary at cuc.ca or (I think) just
reply and it will come to me.

Take care,
