| About newcomers | |
The Newcomers' list is a place where people who are new to Unitarian Universalism (or who are considering UUism) can share their experiences and exchange information about their religious journeys. It is a sensitive, non-judgmental, caring environment that supports the responsible search for truth and meaning in one's life. Because each of us is at a different place and because our journeys do not always lead us to the same destination, subscribers to the list agree to hold to certain standards: compassion, understanding, honesty, openness, no put-downs, no name-calling.

| Subscribing to newcomers | |
Newcomers is a closed list with a small number of longer-time UUs who answer questions and act as moderators. If you want to subscribe, please write to the newcomers-owner@uua.org introducing yourself and stating that you want to join the list. Your introduction need not be long and elaborate -- one or two sentences will do. But if you want to write something long that's ok too! Most self-introductions will be posted to the list so all the newcomers can get to know each other and feel comfortable. After about 9 months of being a member of the list, each subscriber will "graduate" and be encouraged to leave the list. It is anticipated that they will find another UU list, such as UU-Community@uua.org, where discussions can continue. | |
