Free-speech-uus -- a list about UUs and censorship.

About Free-speech-uus
English (USA)

Welcome to FREE_SPEECH-UUS (free-speech-uus@uua.org), the UU mailing list devoted to an open discussion of what censorship means to Unitarian Universalists living in a free society. This list encourages debate on issues of censorship, civil liberties, and religious freedom.

If you're looking for a place to explore issues of limits on free speech and expression as they relate to UU principles and purposes, then this is a great place to be.

SUBSCRIBING AND POSTING

To post messages to the list once you have subscribed, send messages to free-speech-uus@uua.org.

To write to the list managers, address messages to free-speech-uus-owner@uua.org.

LIST RULES

This list is sponsored by the UUA, so subscribers must follow the UUA's mailing list rules, which are at http://www.uua.org/lists/list-policies.html. In addition, this list has the following rules:

1. Limit your postings to three per day to give others a chance to respond.

2. This is not a forum for complaining about the UUA's mailing list policies, or the actions of list managers or the UUA's Office of Electronic Communications (OEC) in enforcing these policies. Instead, write to the list manager of the list with which you have had a problem (at LISTNAME-owner@uua.org), or to oec@uua.org.

3. Don't post unsubstantiated rumors; check your facts before posting. We recommend using Google (http://google.com) to search for relevant information.

4. No flaming, blaming, accusing, or departing from the discussion of free speech principles into the realm of personalities. Instead, talk about principles, people's actions, and your opinions and experiences.

If the list manager decides that subscribers are breaking either the UUA's list rules or the rules that are specific to this list, they will follow the UUA's Conflict Resolution Procedure at http://www.uua.org/lists/listconflict.html. Write to oec@uua.org with questions.

Note: If you want a completely uncensored venue for online discussion among UUs, with no rules at all, not sponsored by the UUA, consider posting to the alt.religion.unitarian-univ Usenet newsgroup. You can read and post to this newsgroup from the Google Groups web site at http://groups.google.com.
