Adoptee-rights -- A list for anyone concerned about the rights of adopted persons.

About Adoptee-rights
English (USA)

This is a list for all concerned about the rights of adopted persons: adoptees, birth and adoptive parents, professionals and those concerned about adoption rights as a civil rights and UU social justice issue.

This list will be a place to share our journeys, get support and referrals, as well as to share what is happening politically in various states, and what actions need to be taken, such as having our congregations call or write to legislators as appropriate.

We will discuss issues such as adopted persons being denied access to their original birth certificates in 44 states versus the right of the mothers who relinquished them; the pending legislation in 19 states and how congregations can strategize programs to educate and motivate our local congregations, regions, legislative ministries, and the UUA to support adoptee rights, specifically adoptees' right to unrestricted, unconditional access to their own birth certificate. An in-depth explanation of the issue and the UU principles which apply is available at: http://www.equalaccess4adoptees.org/ALL-UU.mov or http://tinyurl.com/equalaccessUU

Once you are placed on the list, PLEASE INTRODUCE yourself. Tell us:

- Your connection to adoption
- Your UU affiliation/connection or interest
- Your state
- Any other info like family, career, etc.

You can read past intros in the archives.
